Record Broken by Korir at 130th Boston Marathon
Defending Champions Dominate
It is the 130th Boston Marathon and it is bit a colder than normal. That did not stop the fans and the runners from attending this prestige marathon or my dog, Duke, from being interested in this event (as was every golden retriever that attended a pre-Boston Marathon event days before the race).
Expectations are that records could be broken today. Marcel Hug of Switzerland in the men’s wheelchair race won his 9th Boston Marathon race and almost beat his course record with a 1:16:06 time. The runner up of this race was 6 minutes behind Hug! The women’s wheelchair race went to Eden-Rainbow Cooper of Great Britain at 1:30:51. Defending champion John Korir of Kenya had a commanding win in the men’s race and broke the course record with 2:01:52 time. Defending champion Sharon Lokedi of Kenya won the women’s race with a time of 2:18:51.
It was a perfect day in Boston for the runners and for the spectators in the 130th Boston Marathon.
