Patriots’ Defense, Gonzalez Crushes Steelers in Redemption Game
Patriots going into their week 2 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers were seeking redemption for their implosion against the Seattle Seahawks. The game started rough for the Patriots as on their first drive they fumble the ball. However, the Steelers could not cash in on the fumble.
On the next drive, in his first game of the season, TreVeyon Henderson of the Patriots ran the ball in for a touchdown and scored the extra point to make it 7-0. The Steelers would miss a field goal and the Patriots would make a field goal on the next drive to make it 10-0.
The rest of the second quarter would be a defensive game as both sides would struggle to score. The Steelers would score a field goal to make it 10-3 Patriots.
In the third quarter, the Patriots had a promising drive but would miss the field goal and the score is still 10-3 Patriots much to the frustration of Mike Vrabel, head coach of the Patriots. Christian Gonzalez of the Patriots is proving that his contract extension was worth it so far in this game as he has shut down one of the Steeler’s star players DK Metcalf.
Patriots would redeem the missed field goal by getting the next one to make it 13-3. In the fourth quarter, Aaron Rodgers of the Steelers on the next drive would fumble the ball and Elijah Ponder would scoop the ball up and run it in for a touchdown to make it 20-3 Patriots.
Steelers would have the ball in the red zone late in the 4th quarter, but Rodgers would be intercepted after his receiver failed to secure the ball. The last play would basically describe the entirely of the game. Patriots offense needs to continue to improve while the defense shine today.
