Patriots, Maye Hang on for Win vs Jets
1st quarter
Christian Gonzalez and AJ Brown return for the Patriots vs the New York Jets on a beautiful fall day in New England. The Patriots almost gave up a touchdown on the first drive but the Jets were called back for an offensive pass interference and had to settle for field goal for a Jets 3-0 lead. After a couple punts between the two teams, Drake Maye would throw a 42-yard touchdown to Romeo Doubs. The Patriots take the lead 7-3, but Doubs would be injured on the play and ruled out for the rest of the game.
2nd quarter
Patriots defense would stop the Jets offense on a 4th and 1 by 8 inches. Patriots would add a field goal at 1:46 of the quarter to make it 10-3 Patriots. On the next Patriots drive, DeMario Douglas would score a touchdown on a pass from Maye to make it 17-3 Patriots going into halftime.
3rd quarter
The Jets would score a touchdown that went for 50 yards to make it 17-10 Patriots after Brown would have multiple drops for the Patriots. The Patriots would fumble the ball on the next drive and lead to another Jets field goal to make it 17-13 Patriots.
4th quarter
At the start of the 4th quarter, the Patriots tried to rebound after a disastrous 3rd quarter by having Maye throwing to Hunter Henry for a Patriots touchdown to make it 23-13 Patriots. On the next Jets drive, Geno Smith of the Jets was pick off by the Patriots Charles Woods for Smith’s first interception this season. However, the Patriots would fumble the ball after 3 plays, and the Jets would get a field goal out of it to make 23-16 Patriots. The Patriots would get a field goal to make it 26-16 Patriots with 1:16 left in the game. The Patriots defense stopped the Jets in the redzone and only limited them to a field goal and the score would be 26-19 Patriots. The Patriots barely recover an onside kick and the final score would be 26-19 Patriots. They have little time to correct their turnover issues (and AJ Brown’s drops) as they play on Thursday vs the Chicago Bears.
