Offense Woes Finally Catch Up to Maye, Vrabel as Patriots Lose Super Bowl
The Patriots season ended today by unexpectedly ending up in the Super Bowl. Thanks to second year quarterback Drake Maye and first year head coach and coach of the year Mike Vrabel, the Patriots are in the Super Bowl. This is the first Super Bowl since the Tom Brady era. However, the offense woes that plagued them during the postseason finally caught up to them. The much-maligned offensive line once again struggled to protect Drake Maye. The defense kept the Patriots in the game, but it was all for naught. The only good thing for New England was Ben Affleck’s new Dunkin ad.
Despite losing the Super Bowl, the Patriots season was an unexpected success by reaching it. However, next season will be a test to see if they can sustain that success. There will be real mountains to climb for this team. The schedule next season will not be as easy as it was this season. Patriots fans will learn quickly if this team’s success is sustainable. As a result, the Patriots need to address glaring problems such as the lack of protection for Drake Maye by the offensive line as seen in the Super Bowl. These problems can be addressed during the offseason by acquiring free agents, conducting a trade, or selecting players from the NFL Draft. By strengthening the team, the fan’s belief in the Patriots will also be strengthened.
