My Dog Duke

Georgia has Uga. Texas A&M has Reveille. I have Duke. No, not the university. That is the name of my dog. Duke has no relationship to the university although he watched plenty of Duke university games last college basketball season thanks to Cooper Flagg being on the team.

Duke is not a human in a mascot costume although he has some human features to him. These include being on his favorite chair in front of the television on Saturday watching college football with me or burping like a human after having a hearty meal. Duke is a 4-year-old golden retriever who was born in Vermont and was brought home in the middle of snowstorm. He instantly warmed my and my family’s heart.

Just like Uga or Reveille rallying their communities to support their teams, I feel like Duke has rallied my family to support each other. Duke also lets me know when he wants me to pet him or wants to be included in my or my family’s daily activities. This applies to right now as I am writing this blog post. I better wrap this up or he is going to give me an earful by barking due to the lack of petting.
